A gorgeous antique Micro Mosaic cross pendant.

It is a large sized piece likely created for the tourist market when travel to Italy was very popular in the 19th century amongst those wealthy enough to travel.

The cross is made from a rich inky black glass with tiny oval mosaics of various Roman ruins, these mosaics use tiny pieces of ceramic or tesserae to form a picture.

It has a gold plated cap and bale to the top and would look great on a nice long chain.

Unmarked Victorian era.

Condition:
Good used condition overall with some signs of use and wear, quite a few small chips to the edges of the glass, some missing tesserae, wear to the gold plating on the corners.
